It was irrational and unexpected, and he didn’t like it.

He didn’t have any claim on her. He hadn’t since he’d dropped her off at the airport all those months ago, and while he knew that that guy she was talking to wasn’t interested anymore, he couldn’t help the flash of jealousy that ran through them when he saw them together. He had never liked Flack, that was no secret, and from what he heard about their relationship, he didn’t like that either. He knew that what he and Anna had had been better than what she and Flack had had. At least, as far as he was concerned.

And yet, he was jealous.

He couldn’t pinpoint the how or the why, and even more to the point, he didn’t want to. He just wanted to get away from it and push it out of his mind, wanting to get back to the job and be able to distract himself adequately. He had a job to do, and he didn’t want to have to worry about something that providing he actually survived, probably wouldn’t matter when it was over.

“Dean?”

He tore his eyes away from the sight in front of him, and glanced back over the roof of the Impala at his brother. Sam raised an eyebrow at him as he waited on the passenger’s side of the car, looking a little concerned.

“You ready to go?”

Dean just swallowed slightly, before nodding and reaching over to open the door.

“Yeah. Let’s get out of here.”
